Change in lift filming plans for the semester

At this point, we are two weeks into the semester & heading into our third week. Based upon my current workload from all my courses, I am sorry to say that I unfortunately will not be able to stick with the tentative lift filming plan I proposed last month. I apologize for the inconvenience. The January virtual showdown was moved to March 26 at 6:30 PM

OMICRON CASES ARE STARTING TO TREND DOWNWARD CONSISTENTLY THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY. HENCE, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT BY THE TIME THE SEMESTER ENDS I WILL BE IN A POSITION WHERE I CAN BE CONFIDENT TO RESUME IP LIFT FILMING AGAIN. ONLY EVIDENCE WILL TELL.

ADDITIONALLY, ALL SOLO OVERNIGHT LIFT FILMING PLANS HAVE BEEN SCRAPPED FOR THE ENTIRETY OF 2022 & WILL BE MOVED TO 2023. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE FLORIDA TRIP IN JULY 2023 WILL BE MOVED TO DECEMBER 2023 TO REDUCE THE RISK OF WASP OR HORNET ATTACKS & TO INCREASE THE TIME TO SECURE THE BUDGET REQUIRED TO SUSTAIN THE ENTIRE SPAN OF THE EXCURSION.

Tentative IP Lift Filming Plans for the summer:

  • May 20 - Quaker Bridge Mall
  • June 10 - Westfield Garden State Plaza & 747 New Jersey 17
  • July 15 (IF ATLANTIC CITY "SIS"): Secaucus & East Rutherford
  • July 22 (IF ATLANTIC CITY IS NOT "SIS"): Freehold Raceway Mall & random office buildings in Freehold
  • Tentative Atlantic City date: August 6-9: One of four options:
    • Ocean Resort Atlantic City
    • Harrah's Resort Atlantic City
    • Caesar's OR Bally's Atlantic City
    • WILDCARD (Any other hotel in Atlantic City with the exception of the Borgata)
  • Tentative Atlantic City backup date: August 11: Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack, NY OR Roosevelt Field in Garden City, NY (ONLY IF WE DO NOT GO TO ATLANTIC CITY OR WE DO GO TO ATLANTIC CITY BUT WE STAY AT THE BORGATA, OTHERWISE THIS TRIP WILL BE MOVED TO THE LAST FRIDAY OF OCTOBER OR THE FIRST FRIDAY OF NOVEMBER DEPENDING ON WHICH DAY THE LAST MIDTERM EXAM FOR THE SEMESTER TAKES PLACE)
  • September 2: Modern lift showdown - Kean University (LIFTS INSTALLED OR MOST RECENTLY FULLY REPLACED AFTER 1990 ONLY)

Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands. Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts. Their fast acceleration / leveling It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like...

Paramus Lift Galore: June 2022

Written on behalf of the Rising Salamander Academy Lift Galore Date: June 17 Lift Galore Time: 5:00 PM EST It's been a long time since I've last filmed lifts in person, a whole whopping half a year to be exact. I'm excited to be back, but not for long, since I have to finish up my time at Kean University & focus on graduating on time. But for the mean time, let's enjoy our summer recess, film the best lifts we can film & make the most of it! Westinghouse Lift Where: Macy's, Garden State Plaza Time Filmed: 10:10 AM (June 10) Grade: B+ Speed to Height Ratio: 8.1:1 (Fast) Landings Served: 3 The first lift of this lift galore is a 1950's Westinghouse lift which was later modernised by a generic company between the 1980's & early 2000's with EPCO Flushline fixtures on the outside, EPCO Circleline fixtures on the inside. This lift has a speed to height ratio of 8.1:1 which makes it fast for the application & number of landings. This lift is loc...

THE OTIS IN ANAHEIM

Before writing this report, let me quickly give you some background on the lifts and escalators that I have seen during my time at DisneyLand in Anaheim, California with my family. Brief Overview While I was at DisneyLand in Anaheim, I have encountered four sets of very tall MontgomeryKONE escalators, a set of two very fast MontgomeryKONE traction units (partially outdoor as the first landing had a rear door that opened on the outside of the building), this OTIS hydro here that I managed to ride and film & another OTIS hydro that I didn’t get to ride nor film. These lifts, regardless, were still very awesome lifts, but for now, I will be going into a description of this amazing lift. What made this lift so amazing? This particular lift is so amazing because it’s a full-blown commercial hydraulic lift installed fully outdoors , which is rather unusual for an outdoor lift. This alone made it amazing. Upon first glance, it looks like a pretty standard lift that you would typical...
