Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands.
Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts.

Their fast acceleration / leveling

It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like it’s puffed up for the first few seconds of movement. This is because Schindler lifts accelerate differently from OTIS & ThyssenKrupp lifts. When I went to the NYC Marriott Marquis back in December 2016, I remember perceiving 1000 FPM movement as 2000 FPM, because the initial 5-seconds of movement were very “hard & brutal”.

I noticed a slightly different acceleration with KONE traction lifts, where they would start off slow & then progressively accelerate faster & faster until they slowed back down to a constant speed. I find this approach to be really unusual, because KONE is the only major lift brand which does that. OTIS doesn’t get to that same point quite as great as KONE does, which makes KONE lifts such amazing lifts! When I went to Elizabeth, I noticed this exact trend on not one, but TWO KONE TRACTIONS which I have filmed that day. And, I have seen multiple KONE lifts on YouTube do the same thing afterwards.

KONE & Schindler leveling is faster than OTIS & definitely faster than ThyssenKrupp. This is because Schindler & KONE mastered their reference tackle systems to make the lifts as fast at leveling as they possibly could. Example is Mall of Bloomington in Bloomington, MN. This is another reason why I love Schindler & KONE lifts so much, ESPECIALLY traction lifts.

Their unique style

Usually, I could give less of a crap about lift appearance, but this is a big exception. Out of every lift I have filmed since December 2015, I have been most impressed by the appearance of the Schindler & KONE lifts. Schindler really knows how to blend car elements together to make it a unique & European/foreign style to its interior. One example is the Schindler lifts I filmed in Secaucus a while back lift video here, which had a very Swiss wooden/red style to it. The buttons were MAD BS, which are one of my favorite lift buttons & they lit up in red, which is one of my favorite colors for lift buttons anyway. Not only that, but the buttons were concave, giving the lift true foreign style, which Schindler is the only one BESIDES KONE of the 4 major lift brands which know how to make a lift look foreign!

Regarding the brand new Schindler 6400 lifts I filmed in Atlantic City, those lifts are some of my all-time favorites from Atlantic City & for good reason too, lift video here. Usually, in a scenario where I find out a lift’s appearance was going to be updated, I would give much less of a crap about what it looks like after the modernisation, but this mod was done SO PERFECTLY WELL that I couldn’t resist looking at the car interior off-camera. Riding in that lift made me feel like I was in a EUROPEAN COUNTRY, not in America! It kind of looks like a very posh hotel lift from the U.K (something you would probably see in Boston, Massachusetts).

While Schindler is good at conveying a sense of style along with a strictly northern-European feel to their lifts, it is important to note that KONE is good at conveying a sense of minimalism design when designing their preset car interiors. This is no wonder why Schindler & KONE are my number one go-to whenever I want to find a lift that looks visually appealing. They are true experts at that. I like the way most Schindler & KONE lifts look, appearance-wise, because they don’t look like every other modern high rise lift you’re going to see everyday. Their approach is strictly European & ultra-modern. Unlike OTIS & ThyssenKrupp, which design car interiors to suit the like of the general public by keeping the car interior designs native, Schindler & KONE are the two lift brands which put a good deal into their car interior designs to make them look unusual. Example is the new KONE EcoDisc MRL lift at the Bloomington Mall in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Found the source of the problems with my PC

I am proud to finally tell y’all that I believe I have found a definite source of the problems I have been experiencing with my Windows PC over the past few days. It was because of a faulty Windows 10 preview update which was affecting the Windows 10 Recovery Environment. Luckily, I have found a trustworthy program (free of malware) which I could use to debug errors in my PC at any time, minor or major. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s happened when I tried to fix windows PC’s in the past. I am still taking  every precaution possible to further decrease the chance of my Windows PC breaking down or crashing. As a matter of fact, my PC almost crashed  this morning , but luckily, I was able to hard-restart the PC to get it working again by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s h...

LIFT FILMING AGENDA UPDATE 1.25.2019 & WILL CHICAGO BE CROWNED THE NEW KING?

Chicago holds a high possibility of being crowned first place . What if I told you that Chicago has some rare and exotic lifts that you probably won’t find in many other places in the U.S.? That is an existence a lift filmer will be delighted with when they go to the city of Chicago. My four figures of reference were: WI Sirens and Elevators Elevators of Lake County CHI Elevators Windy City Elevators Because I have found so many outstanding Montgomery, Dover, SchindlerHaughton, Westinghouse and KONE lifts throughout the city of Chicago, it wouldn’t be sensible for me to write it all under one big blog post, because it would be a big waste of time for me to go into big, elaborate detail on what made each lift stand out. What I found on YouTube in terms of Chicago lifts Mitsubishi and Fujitec These lift filmers have walked around the city of Chicago filming some super nice lifts, and in the process of watching YouTube videos over the past few months, I have found that Ch...

QUICK RUNDOWN OF THE NORMAL BEHAVIOR OF A 700A

Tallest 700A’s I have been on Arguably, at 20 stories, these have been the tallest Schindler 700A’s I have EVER been on, and the first I’ve been on in a hotel. However, I have noticed some interesting characteristics of the Schindler 700A in mid to high rise applications. Epic lifts indeed To start off, these lifts had absolutely incredible acceleration, deceleration and leveling. They take off like rockets and travel at a mindblowing speed of 120 meters per minute, despite serving a travel distance of 55-60 meters. The deceleration is similar to the Schindler 700A’s at the Nordstrom store at the Mall at Short Hills, as it smoothly phases into its full deceleration mode. In terms of character, these lifts do tend to make a little bit of noise and shake on the way up and down the tower. Car 3 makes a very loud screeching noise as it accelerates towards level 17 going down, which I find to make the ride even more fun. These lifts were installed in 1993, which gives them even more 199...
