Atlanta-Pittsburgh update 3/11

We are beginning to see nearly certain doubts.

Pittsburgh

Due to my move across Hunterdon County NJ, it is swaying off the possibility of us going to PITTSBURGH Pennsylvania! Other contributing factors to the decline of our likelihood of going to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania include school being extended into spring recess (blame your best friend Mother Nature for this) & other school events going on during April 1 - 5.

Looking back at the past few several since December 31st, I am now having extreme doubts Pittsburgh is happening. I'm starting to see better odds of me just filming some lifts throughout Clinton & Flemington NJ.

The probability of Pittsburgh happening is about as low as the probability of Atlanta happening at this point (1%). Any city ranking high in the Charlotte Kingdom (1 to 8) that is not in NJ or Connecticut is bound to have a downhill trend!

Atlanta

If you ask me to post the verdict right now, I would probably be able to give you a near certain guaranteed verdict at this point. While it certainly doesn't look like we could be going, there is still a slight possibility of 1%. And if I, for say, end up being ABLE to go to Atlanta, I will most likely not be filming the same lifts that most lift photographers generally tend to go for. Instead, I will try to adopt a special technique where I go from lowest to highest, but I will try to hold off on the taller buildings (21 floors or higher) until the end of the trip, if Atlanta happens this year.

Expect our likelihood of going to Atlanta to stay below the 3% threshold until I start getting positive feelings from discussions about it.

Atlantic City

I know I will not be bringing AC updates until June 3rd at 8:45 AM, but it is important for me to note that the probability of us going to AC this summer is slightly above the 45% threshold, meaning that there is a good possibility we might be going to Atlantic City this summer anyway, with our top candidate hotel being the Tropicana at 45% likely to stay there! While these are vague details, the July 1st verdict will bring slightly specific details based my February 2018 trip to Atlantic City, but they will ONLY BE IDEAS, NOT PLANS! When the term "Charlotte" starts being associated with our trip plans, references to past trips are ONLY IDEAS!

The general idea is, expect us not to go to Atlanta or Pittsburgh as these will become possible options for the graduation trip in 2019.

Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands. Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts. Their fast acceleration / leveling It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like...

THE OTIS IN ANAHEIM

Before writing this report, let me quickly give you some background on the lifts and escalators that I have seen during my time at DisneyLand in Anaheim, California with my family. Brief Overview While I was at DisneyLand in Anaheim, I have encountered four sets of very tall MontgomeryKONE escalators, a set of two very fast MontgomeryKONE traction units (partially outdoor as the first landing had a rear door that opened on the outside of the building), this OTIS hydro here that I managed to ride and film & another OTIS hydro that I didn’t get to ride nor film. These lifts, regardless, were still very awesome lifts, but for now, I will be going into a description of this amazing lift. What made this lift so amazing? This particular lift is so amazing because it’s a full-blown commercial hydraulic lift installed fully outdoors , which is rather unusual for an outdoor lift. This alone made it amazing. Upon first glance, it looks like a pretty standard lift that you would typical...
