The research was worthwhile!
While researching the lifts in Saint Louis, using STL Elevators' playlist of STL's sub-city Clayton MO, alongside DieselDucy's STL playlist, I have discovered that STL has lifts worthy of KICKING CHARLOTTE DOWN TO SECOND PLACE IF IT WERE ALLOWED! That's how awesome the VAST MAJORITY of STL's lifts are! And that's from just WATCHING the videos mindlessly WITHOUT PAYING MUCH ATTENTION TO THEM! I was really excited about putting STL onto the Charlotte Kingdom & I am very proud I did because it turned out to be the best decision I've made since I discovered Charlotte herself!
What exactly excited me about STL?
The variety of lifts with the different varieties of character was what impressed me! A lift doesn't have to look posh for me to want to film it, it just has to run uniquely for me to want to film it! Almost all of the lifts in STL matched this phrase exactly, making me want to not only put it on the Charlotte Kingdom, but to put it high on the Charlotte Kingdom!
I have discovered that STL has lifts worthy of kicking Charlotte down to second place if it were allowed.
Traction lifts
As far as traction lifts go, those weren't so bad either. While I was researching on YouTube of STL's lifts, I have seen a couple Innovation lifts (the worst lift I've seen was a Montgomery with Innovation security buttons & that was only because it took 9 years for the door to open at the floor), a generous amount of Otis lifts, some Westinghouse lifts, a few ThyssenKrupps & even a couple of EcoDiscs, which all are found in Charlotte! The best lift in STL that I have researched about was a Westinghouse from the late 1940s, which had 4 floors, black buttons & was single-speed. This lift was filmed by DieselDucy.Hydraulic lifts
As far as hydraulic lifts go, the vast majority of them & the vast majority of Charlotte's have a lot of SERIOUSLY FIERCE competition with each other! As far as hydros go, U.S. lifts have lots of character, then you get Dover lifts, some are Impulse, some are vintage, some are a mix of General/Dover, some could be found in train stations & are generally scenic, As for OTIS, you have mostly older OTIS hydros. While it's rare to come across a 50s legacy OTIS, it's not rare to encounter a 60s legacy or standard hydro OTIS. With Montgomery, MetroLink has a myriad of those lifts!
What have I learned from STL?
STL has a big myriad of varieties of amazing lifts! I expect to have a lot of fun in STL if I go there to film lifts!
