What to expect for Autumn 2018, reflections & next round of revisions for CCRS in place for 10.27

As you all know, 2018 wasn’t AS GREAT for lift filming as I was hoping for. However, I have made many important additions to the Charlotte Carolina Ranking System over the past 9 months since January 2018, including adding many New Jersey towns, cities & townships (Elizabeth Area, Freehold Township, Bridgewater Township & Clinton Township Area).

Reflection

During the winter of 2018, I managed to film THREE LIFTS in Elizabeth (now the Elizabeth Area), my first lift in Bridgewater Township, managed to film almost EVERY passenger lift in the Borgata & Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City & even film a 1960s OTIS in the Elizabeth Area! Of course, I was extremely impressed with the lifts I have ridden & filmed in Elizabeth during the winter of 2018.

As for the spring of 2018, I wasn’t that heavy on lift filming like I was hoping for. I managed to film some KONE & OTIS lifts in Secaucus, a basic 2-story Schindler hydro in Jersey City & a ThyssenKrupp hydro in a university in Wayne Township.

As for the summer of 2018, I managed to make VERY CRUCIAL additions to the CCRS, including adding Elizabeth (I was already feeling confident about adding this city), Dallas & even some cities in CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA to the CCRS which had characteristics that matched Charlotte’s. Furthermore, over the course of the summer, I was able to ride & film EPIC & AWESOME lifts in FOUR cities that are now on the Charlotte Carolina Ranking System, including:

  • The Elizabeth Area (I went just to get a feel of other lifts so I can add it to the CCRS & glad I did)
  • The Boston Area (I only rode TWO lifts & they were both 4-story hydros, one OTIS & 1 DOVER but again I was EXTREMELY HAPPY)
  • Secaucus (I enjoyed this trip THE MOST)
  • The Clinton Township Area (I have ridden FOUR different sets of lifts & happy with 3 sets which made me add Clinton Township area, soon to expand into Flemington if I can film any lifts)
  • Atlantic City (I enjoyed this trip THE LEAST, please read my past journal posts from Atlantic City & Charlotte-Carolina Ranking System categories to find out why, however, I enjoyed the lifts the most)

At the conclusion of my eventful summer filming many DIFFERENT KINDS of lifts (during the summer of 2017 I barely filmed ANY LIFTS AT ALL, so this summer was an improvement), I have managed to VASTLY EXPAND the Charlotte Carolina Ranking System, including adding entire states (there are now 11 & NJ is 2nd) on the list.

What’s happening for the fall of 2018

Because of Atlantic City & the recent Scranton Trip, I decided to STOP going anywhere outside of Clinton Township/Bridgewater Township areas to film lifts until I can drive to the lifts I look forward to filming, also known as solo trips. In fact, I’m now more excited going to NYC & DENVER than I am going to Tacoma & LA.

Trip cancellations:

  • Autumn Elizabeth lift filming trips (9.15, 10.13 & 12.15)
  • Autumn Secaucus lift filming trips (10.13 & 12.15)
  • Autumn Hartford lift filming trip (10.7-8) & even if it wasn’t canceled I could care less about going to Hartford anyway
  • November Lyndhurst Township lift filming trip (11.24)

I will be going to New York City MANY TIMES this autumn, but NOT for filming lifts. However, the buildings I did ride/film lifts at mostly had boring & generic running modern lifts, except for a select handful. Specific areas with good lifts in NYC have been added on the CCRS & currently hold the lowest ranking, due to the boring lifts around them. Staten Island will most likely go on the CCRS by 10.27.

As for lift filming, I may not film any lifts outside of the Clinton Township area, except for Bridgewater Township, which is soon to end up in the Clinton Township area anyway. However, if there is a non-solo trip anywhere outside of Clinton Township, I will film the lifts I ENCOUNTER & not worry about the ones I DON’T.

It is unlikely I will be going back to Secaucus at anytime until late April 2019.

I am signing off now & I will be back at 11:15 AM for my new round of additions in place for 10.27.2018 & to discuss future plans for lift filming after I get my own license & car.

Found the source of the problems with my PC

I am proud to finally tell y’all that I believe I have found a definite source of the problems I have been experiencing with my Windows PC over the past few days. It was because of a faulty Windows 10 preview update which was affecting the Windows 10 Recovery Environment. Luckily, I have found a trustworthy program (free of malware) which I could use to debug errors in my PC at any time, minor or major. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s happened when I tried to fix windows PC’s in the past. I am still taking  every precaution possible to further decrease the chance of my Windows PC breaking down or crashing. As a matter of fact, my PC almost crashed  this morning , but luckily, I was able to hard-restart the PC to get it working again by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s h...

LIFT FILMING AGENDA UPDATE 1.25.2019 & WILL CHICAGO BE CROWNED THE NEW KING?

Chicago holds a high possibility of being crowned first place . What if I told you that Chicago has some rare and exotic lifts that you probably won’t find in many other places in the U.S.? That is an existence a lift filmer will be delighted with when they go to the city of Chicago. My four figures of reference were: WI Sirens and Elevators Elevators of Lake County CHI Elevators Windy City Elevators Because I have found so many outstanding Montgomery, Dover, SchindlerHaughton, Westinghouse and KONE lifts throughout the city of Chicago, it wouldn’t be sensible for me to write it all under one big blog post, because it would be a big waste of time for me to go into big, elaborate detail on what made each lift stand out. What I found on YouTube in terms of Chicago lifts Mitsubishi and Fujitec These lift filmers have walked around the city of Chicago filming some super nice lifts, and in the process of watching YouTube videos over the past few months, I have found that Ch...

QUICK RUNDOWN OF THE NORMAL BEHAVIOR OF A 700A

Tallest 700A’s I have been on Arguably, at 20 stories, these have been the tallest Schindler 700A’s I have EVER been on, and the first I’ve been on in a hotel. However, I have noticed some interesting characteristics of the Schindler 700A in mid to high rise applications. Epic lifts indeed To start off, these lifts had absolutely incredible acceleration, deceleration and leveling. They take off like rockets and travel at a mindblowing speed of 120 meters per minute, despite serving a travel distance of 55-60 meters. The deceleration is similar to the Schindler 700A’s at the Nordstrom store at the Mall at Short Hills, as it smoothly phases into its full deceleration mode. In terms of character, these lifts do tend to make a little bit of noise and shake on the way up and down the tower. Car 3 makes a very loud screeching noise as it accelerates towards level 17 going down, which I find to make the ride even more fun. These lifts were installed in 1993, which gives them even more 199...
