Excerpt from last Wednesday’s journal post:

If all circumstances play in my favor, then my next lift filming days will be May 25 and 26 (but not May 27). This will happen if I either get no homework for the weekend or I finish all my potential weekend homework on May 24, in addition to studying for any pre-planned tests for the week after and finishing all weekend project tasks on May 24. It will be a NO-STUDYING weekend for final exams. In order for it to happen, ALL of the following circumstances must apply:

Circumstance A: I must have FEWER THAN 2 pre-planned tests that are NO MORE than 50 POINTS EACH with a difficulty of no higher than 3 taking place the next week, in addition to having at most ONE project worth at most 100 points and with a difficulty of at most 3.

Circumstance B: I must have a 93.20 OR HIGHER (or an A in general) for at least four classes that I have CONSISTENTLY been scoring “A” marks on the report cards for the previous 3 marking periods in a row.

Circumstance C: I must currently be exempt from at least four final exams by that point as of that date, with at least TWO of those classes being graduation requirements.

Circumstance D: My worst grade as of that date for a graduation requirement must be a “B”.

Which circumstances have I achieved between last Wednesday and this Wednesday?

Between last week and now, I have achieved circumstances B, C and D. Circumstance A will be unknown until the weekend of May 24.

Am I in ship-shape to go lift filming?

As of now, I am in ship-shape, but I may not be by the time May 24 looms around.

The weekend of June 1

So far, it doesn’t look like I will be filming any lifts throughout that weekend.

And as for the likelihood of graduating, there is only a 50% chance of it happening and that’s only assuming the best case scenario. So as of right now, the final marking period report card will tell me if I have graduated from high school or not. I am hoping to receive a verdict on that between June 13 at 3:30 PM and June 17 at 6:45 AM. Y FRIRD? I have no idea.

Other plans

A countdown timer will be up on either one of the websites as well.

Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands. Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts. Their fast acceleration / leveling It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like...

THE OTIS IN ANAHEIM

Before writing this report, let me quickly give you some background on the lifts and escalators that I have seen during my time at DisneyLand in Anaheim, California with my family. Brief Overview While I was at DisneyLand in Anaheim, I have encountered four sets of very tall MontgomeryKONE escalators, a set of two very fast MontgomeryKONE traction units (partially outdoor as the first landing had a rear door that opened on the outside of the building), this OTIS hydro here that I managed to ride and film & another OTIS hydro that I didn’t get to ride nor film. These lifts, regardless, were still very awesome lifts, but for now, I will be going into a description of this amazing lift. What made this lift so amazing? This particular lift is so amazing because it’s a full-blown commercial hydraulic lift installed fully outdoors , which is rather unusual for an outdoor lift. This alone made it amazing. Upon first glance, it looks like a pretty standard lift that you would typical...

Paramus Lift Galore: June 2022

Written on behalf of the Rising Salamander Academy Lift Galore Date: June 17 Lift Galore Time: 5:00 PM EST It's been a long time since I've last filmed lifts in person, a whole whopping half a year to be exact. I'm excited to be back, but not for long, since I have to finish up my time at Kean University & focus on graduating on time. But for the mean time, let's enjoy our summer recess, film the best lifts we can film & make the most of it! Westinghouse Lift Where: Macy's, Garden State Plaza Time Filmed: 10:10 AM (June 10) Grade: B+ Speed to Height Ratio: 8.1:1 (Fast) Landings Served: 3 The first lift of this lift galore is a 1950's Westinghouse lift which was later modernised by a generic company between the 1980's & early 2000's with EPCO Flushline fixtures on the outside, EPCO Circleline fixtures on the inside. This lift has a speed to height ratio of 8.1:1 which makes it fast for the application & number of landings. This lift is loc...
