Updated COVID Guidelines & Standards for the continuation of lift filming throughout the pandemic

Advanced Coronavirus Guidelines for Lift Filming

As you may or may not have known, the Skyscraper Simulator (Beno Edition) has been shut down for the foreseeable future, voiding my plans to film lifts virtually during the dark parts of the Coronavirus. For this reason, virtual lift filming is impractical & I have developed new channel guidelines for cooperating with the pandemic as follows:

Special Occasions

It is a standard that I film lifts on a day of or leading up to that of a special occasion. For this reason, I have 5 lift filming dates scheduled for the foreseeable future that will be in effect regardless of how bad the Coronavirus gets provided that malls & office buildings are still open as follows:

  1. December 17. 2020 (in preparation for my reinduction into the lift filming community as a senior lift filmer - 5 year anniversary): Mall at Short Hills - Schindler 3300 followed by Macy’s followed by 1980’s Westinghouse hydros followed by 1995 Schindler 300A hydro followed by 2018 EXCEL/1995 Montgomery hydro followed by 1997 Schindler 700A high speed

  2. February 5. 2021 (In preparation for my 20th birthday): Freehold Raceway Mall - Schindler 300A at Macy’s followed by Schindler 300A near Macy’s - then Clinton Township NJ

  3. May 4. 2021 (Halfway point celebration trip, FULLY DEPENDENT on the university’s Coronavirus guidelines): Hynes Hall followed by Kean Hall followed by Harwood Arena/D’Angola Gymnasium followed by East Campus

  4. May 6. 2021 (Halfway point celebration trip if university prohibits being on campus): Garden State Plaza trip (Toll-Free routes will be used in lieu of Garden State Parkway)

  5. July 17. 2021 (FULLY DEPENDENT upon the status of the August 2021 Atlantic City trip):

  • If we are going to Atlantic City in August: King of Prussia in the morning followed by Secaucus in the evening

  • If we are not going to Atlantic City in August: Freehold Raceway Mall in the morning followed by Monmouth Mall in the afternoon/evening

  1. August 2021: Atlantic City OR Livingston Mall

Postponed Lift Filming Events

The following criteria will postpone a lift filming event:

  • Malls, the university, or office buildings are shut down/heavily restricted

  • My SUV is blocked in the driveway on the day of a lift filming event beyond the time where I cannot make it to the location in reasonable driving time well before said location closes for the day

  • Coronavirus cases in that area have a 15% increase from the day before or higher

Previous Pandemic Restrictions

If the following requirements are met:

  • 6% or less increase of daily Coronavirus cases between any 2 of the 4 days (U.S.). Neither of the 4 days can report 55,001 or more cases

  • 10% or less increase of daily Coronavirus cases between any 2 of the 4 days (NJ). Neither of the 4 days can report 1,001 or more cases

In-person lift filming will occur on said dates.

New Pandemic Restrictions

Because the Skyscraper simulator software has been taken down, the previously amended restrictions are no longer in effect as it is now impractical for me to host a virtual lift filming day, because virtual channel operations require me to build custom buildings quickly well in advance of a proposed lift filming date should things prevent me from filming lifts in person. However, said web services have been taken down and no other viable alternative is available, so I’m stuck with in-person lift filming until the virtual option is available again.

Because of the removal of the Skyscraper Simulator, on lift filming days where I can not film lifts in-person, lift filming for that day will be canceled altogether & the plans for said lift filming event will be moved over to the next planned lift filming day. A schedule repository will be logged, recorded, saved & backed up consisting of explicit plans to film which lifts & where, on which days. Backed up plans towards the end of the pandemic when mask-wearing & social distancing regulations ease up will compile into a massive lift galore, possibly the first overnight solo of my career.

Will it be available again in the future?

As of right now, I do not know. All I know is that it has been taken down because of unknown reasons. As a precaution to mitigate speculation, I have yanked the download mirror link from the front page of my website until the nature of the reason for the shutdown of the Skyscraper Simulator is determined. Virtual lift filming is suspended for the foreseeable future & only in-person lift filming will be in effect.

New Guidelines

The following guidelines & standards will be adhered to at all times during lift filming events in-person:

  • Social distancing of 10’ as opposed to 6’ at all times whenever possible

  • Mask-wearing when not driving or eating

  • Car keys will be used to press lift buttons

  • Hand sanitizer will be carried & used after every lift filmed

  • A 5-cup water cooler will be used as drinking water to avoid use of fountains throughout the building

  • Food will be ordered as takeout only to be eaten in the SUV or at home

These guidelines will remain in effect until social distancing & mask wearing rules do not apply due to the pandemic dying down significantly.

Sidenote

Starting November 2020, journal posts will be typed up fully in a separate Google Doc which will be stored in a secure Google Drive repository to be copied and pasted into a new blog platform should the one at https://officialclintontownshiplifts.blogspot.com/ be shutdown or taken offline for an extended period of time at any time. Hardcopies of journal posts will be saved in read-only Google Doc format for anyone who wants a hardcopy of a specific journal post or set of journal posts.

Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands. Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts. Their fast acceleration / leveling It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like...

Found the source of the problems with my PC

I am proud to finally tell y’all that I believe I have found a definite source of the problems I have been experiencing with my Windows PC over the past few days. It was because of a faulty Windows 10 preview update which was affecting the Windows 10 Recovery Environment. Luckily, I have found a trustworthy program (free of malware) which I could use to debug errors in my PC at any time, minor or major. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s happened when I tried to fix windows PC’s in the past. I am still taking  every precaution possible to further decrease the chance of my Windows PC breaking down or crashing. As a matter of fact, my PC almost crashed  this morning , but luckily, I was able to hard-restart the PC to get it working again by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s h...

THE OTIS IN ANAHEIM

Before writing this report, let me quickly give you some background on the lifts and escalators that I have seen during my time at DisneyLand in Anaheim, California with my family. Brief Overview While I was at DisneyLand in Anaheim, I have encountered four sets of very tall MontgomeryKONE escalators, a set of two very fast MontgomeryKONE traction units (partially outdoor as the first landing had a rear door that opened on the outside of the building), this OTIS hydro here that I managed to ride and film & another OTIS hydro that I didn’t get to ride nor film. These lifts, regardless, were still very awesome lifts, but for now, I will be going into a description of this amazing lift. What made this lift so amazing? This particular lift is so amazing because it’s a full-blown commercial hydraulic lift installed fully outdoors , which is rather unusual for an outdoor lift. This alone made it amazing. Upon first glance, it looks like a pretty standard lift that you would typical...
