Happy New Year everyone! I am so glad that 2020 is over. Anyway, for the first lift of 2021, we got ourselves a basic standard heavy duty Generic (brand assumed unknown) from 2014 which replaced a former Gurney from the ‘920s when this building was built. This specific lift is located in the center column of the Lackawanna Warehouse building in Jersey City, just up the street from the Home Depot store with the Kone MiniSpaces. Full lift character report available here.
Appearance
This lift appears to be a great lift with a score of 728.
Fixtures
The fixtures are great GAL VR. They appear to have deteriorated slightly since my last ride on it in 2018 but they are still holding up well for such heavy use.
Cab Interior
The cab interior is basic standard. It is a stainless steel cab meant to double up as a service lift while minimising vandalism.
Lighting
The lighting is epic & awesome & adds a wild vibe to the lift. I like that they used warm lighting instead of the normal cool or medium-warm lighting.
Configuration
The configuration is spot on & 🔥🔥🔥🔥. It has an 841 configuration score which puts it in the top 2% of all lifts. The cab is very shallow but very wide & despite how wide the cab is, the lift is using center opening single-speed doors instead of center-opening dual-speed doors. The motor is probably very huge on this thing as well.
Run Character
This lift has a basic standard run character with a score of 667.
Acceleration
The acceleration & deceleration are epic & awesome. It does take a while to decelerate but this is because the lift is using the accelerated positioning system which is standard with Motion Control technology. It used to start up smoothly during my two rides in 2018 but on this ride it’s gotten noticeably rougher & the acceleration is rough with a jolty start.
Leveling
This lift has okay leveling. While better than most Generic lifts, it’s not the best & takes a couple seconds to level with the floor. It’s not sitting like a ThyssenKrupp, at least.
Speed
This lift has an epic & awesome speed of 2 meters per second for the short height it travels, adding to the thrill. I don’t think the high speed is appropriate for this setting, but if it makes the lift more thrilling, I will gladly accept it.
Other Run Features
This lift doesn’t have many other outstanding run features & the current ones are basic standard.
Motor
The motor is absolutely epic. It sounds like an old Gurney motor from the outside on the upper floors & the whole area near the lift vibrates when the lift is moving, therefore adding to the character of the motor. It is a basic standard traction motor.
Controller
The controller is a basic standard Motion Controller.
Whole lift
This lift is a basic standard warehouse heavy duty Generic. It has a score of 688.
