Comparing New York City to Charlotte

In this blog post, I thoroughly compare New York City's buildings & lifts to Charlotte's buildings & lifts with multiple sources of evidence from major lift enthusiasts who have been to both New York City AND Charlotte . This is NOT my picture, this is from Wikipedia! New York City The buildings Throughout the Western Hemisphere, many cities look similar to each other, have very similar building designs, but NYC is absolutely no exception to this. The only nice  building in New York City are the old historic buildings that are 30 years old or older. Even those are being demolished at alarming rates per year. To make matters worse, the vast percentage of building developers don't even strive to replace the character of the building when they put up a new modern building in its place. Instead, what they will do is they will find the most beautiful looking historic building, tear it down & replace it with a boring looking building where the floors theoret...

Comparing MAD buttons to Monitor buttons

Over the past five months, I have been noticing a nasty habit with New York City's attitude towards there lifts: they love to use Monitor buttons. A generous portion of America's lift enthusiasts hate Monitor buttons SO MUCH, NYC is therefore there least favorite city to film lifts  & I am one of those lift enthusiasts. Absolutely AWESOME MAD Lift Buttons in Secaucus which you CAN'T find in NYC easily MAD MAD is absolutely amazing, concave, convex or California. You name it! There is absolutely no modern day lift button currently in production that half nears as awesome as MAD. My favorites from MAD involve BS (the halo style circle button) & BP (the jewel style circle button). NYC surprisingly has a couple lifts with MAD buttons, however, the known ones are found in the World Trade Center, which makes the World Trade Center the most awesome modern building complex in NYC to film lifts after 2015, although you need permission to be escorted onto the office ...

Reflecting back on the July Fort Lauderdale trip's failures

In case you were wondering why I was writing this blog post, I was writing it to shed a little bit of light about basically why the first trip to Fort Lauderdale's EleFilm  part nearly got scrapped from the books. In this post I will also share with you things that I will not do for future trips to Charlotte-like cities which I did during the first plane trip to Fort Lauderdale. Blogging way too early I think the largest contributor to why my plans for filming lifts throughout Fort Lauderdale near completely failed was because I did not take into consideration the possible negative outcomes of the trip. In fact, I was way too excited about it to even give a care in the first place about it, so there's your clue about why it almost  failed completely. What happened was, I got news of the Fort Lauderdale trip, the lifts in our hotel & the picture of the hotel on the last Monday of June that year. Immediately, I started blogging about the trip right away, which was a ...

Had a lot of fun in Secaucus today

Fujitec glass lifts at the Embassy Suites The Embassy Suites had three extremely amazing & fun Fujitec traction scenic lifts. This was one of three known buildings throughout Secaucus to have glass lifts though, so you guessed it, I just had to take more rides in the lift. Not to mention this was the third  time I have filmed these lifts since last December . All three times I was impressed by the way they were running. It's not the average boring generic 7-10 story traction lift you see in New York City, in fact, it is a heck lot better. These have lots of character that you can't see by video; only from personal experience. On the first trip up, the pre-start really did catch me, big time. This is one of the things that made these lifts my favorite to film in Secaucus (Secaucus best lifts). Because of the slight pre-start, I wanted to ride these lifts again & again. On the way down, when I got the lift by myself, I filmed it & it felt like I was freef...

In-depth comparison of Jersey City to New York City

I may have ranted the lack of character of a NYC lift multiple times throughout the entire  blog, but, I, with evidence from other lift enthusiasts, do have a reason for the ranting. Jersey City has nicer lifts. Is this true? I know I haven't had real life experience on many lifts in Jersey City to verify that statement. In fact, I have ridden only ONE lift in the entire city. That one was a generized 1980s Dover hydraulic glass lift which had Monitor TR . Luckily I didn't get to film that!  Anyway, the good part to that is, not even half of the known (known by the worldwide lift community) lifts in Jersey City have Monitor TR. This is a bloody relief  for lift enthusiasts who have managed to cross the Holland tunnel & escape the boredom of NYC's high risers. While Jersey City doesn't have necessarily epic  modern lifts like Secaucus does, it's still a vast improvement to the sinful jokes NYC has all over there high rise buildings. If you pay attention ...

What's the LA trip verdict going to be?

So far, the probability of this trip happening is under 5% . As much as I am disappointed for the continuous steady drop in our likelihood of going & as much as you guys especially are disappointed of this unfortunate unlikelihood, just remember you & I must stay strong & pray that we are at the minimum just going to Charlotte  during the high school graduation trip. What will happen if it ends up being a NO? If it ends up being a no, you & I will definitely be upset for the moment, but in the meantime, a new probably trend chart will open up between now & Christmas week of us going to Pittsburgh. From Verdict Day until the week BEFORE Christmas week, I will give you new charts once weekly. Your job will be to recognize a trend between each chart  to determine the likelihood of us going to Pittsburgh. A final verdict will be on the EleFilm blog by December 22nd. In addition, if we are NOT going to Pittsburgh by December 22nd (a verdict will be up by...

Reflecting back on the Crayola Factory's Dover lift

On Thursday, I had such a blast on the epic Dover hydraulic lift in the Crayola Factory. Epic Dover lift in the Crayola Factory Three things I adored about this lift Starts like a traction lift The first thing I noticed when I took my first ride in that lift was that it started exactly like a traction lift. It didn't bounce or jolt to full speed, it just started up really, really smoothly. In fact, I couldn't even hear the motor that well because it was so quiet. Without being said, this is nothing new because most Dover & ThyssenKrupp hydraulic lifts start up very smoothly. This one was clearly no exception. That was so epic, which made me want to film the lift a few more times. Runs quickly & efficiently The second thing I noticed when I took my first ride in the lift was that it took not even 10 seconds to clear the first floor even when it was going down & there was a gigantic gap in between the first & second floor. Normally, Dover & Thy...

Comparing traction lifts to hydraulic lifts in New York City

I will have to say this. After riding both a traction & a hydraulic lift in New York City yesterday, I will have to say, the character & epicness of the hydraulic lift surpassed the traction lift with soaring colors. The colors soared so quickly, it took only 10 minutes for them to get from NYC to LA *Falls through the floor laughing* Crappy Monitor HPS 1300 interior buttons Ghetto trash Monitor HPS 1300 Call Station (Lit) Ghetto trash Monitor HPS 1300 Call Station (Unlit) The traction lift It was at the Battery Carpark, literally right down the street from the World Trade Center complex. The traction lift I rode yesterday was actually a Fujitec, with Monitor HPS 1300 (they are the ghetto crap that you see in the pictures I took above). While Monitor HPS 1300 isn't as horrible as the Monitor TR (no halo) they use on the already boring generic high speed lifts in the high rises nearby, these lifts still earn there keep for being extremely boring & ...

Extremely boring time in New York City today

Yesterday, I think I have experienced one of the most boring high speed lifts I have ridden all year. Listen, I have been on 2-story hydros this year, 3-story hydros, even a Kone EcoDisc going 50 meters per minute ! I will say this, the lift I rode today was the most boring one I have ridden all year. Battery Carpark NYC Listen guys. When comparing the Battery Carpark with other higher rising, higher-speed generic lifts nearby, the Battery Carpark is no big disappointment. After all, it's not using Monitor TR 1000, not using Monitor TR 1500 (which really is a disappointment ), not using EPCO SSL (which is a bloody darn relief ), or even Monitor TR of any kind (which was the ONLY ONE REASON why I didn't spew my guts out). Like the majority of the high rise generic lifts throughout NYC, the lifts I rode (boring ones) were actually built by Fujitec! I DIDN'T even want to film the lift to begin with because it would get almost zero views on my YouTube channel. However,...
