Reflecting back on the July Fort Lauderdale trip's failures

In case you were wondering why I was writing this blog post, I was writing it to shed a little bit of light about basically why the first trip to Fort Lauderdale's EleFilm part nearly got scrapped from the books. In this post I will also share with you things that I will not do for future trips to Charlotte-like cities which I did during the first plane trip to Fort Lauderdale.

Blogging way too early

I think the largest contributor to why my plans for filming lifts throughout Fort Lauderdale near completely failed was because I did not take into consideration the possible negative outcomes of the trip. In fact, I was way too excited about it to even give a care in the first place about it, so there's your clue about why it almost failed completely.

What happened was, I got news of the Fort Lauderdale trip, the lifts in our hotel & the picture of the hotel on the last Monday of June that year. Immediately, I started blogging about the trip right away, which was a big NO-NO. Plans changed extremely drastically throughout the course of the first half of the trip itself, almost scrapping my agenda for filming lifts off the books completely. Key word, almost.

The saving grace here

The hotel company Marriott International was the company who helped to SAVE my EleFilm agenda for the summer Fort Lauderdale trip. More specifically, the hotel "Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach" by Marriott. Basically, what happened was, on the last Friday of July of the same year, I was SO LUCKY to find out that the reservation could not be canceled within two days prior to it happening. Luckily the reservation was happening the next night which meant that it could not be canceled. This completely relieved me in ways not even the smartest U.S. lift enthusiasts could predict.

The lesson I learned here

When trips are planned at latest one month before the predicted first day of the trip, keep hardcore blogging at the absolute minimum until the itinerary is a certainty. Otherwise things will not go smoothly & enjoyment time during the actual trip will be taken away by rewriting blog posts to inform everyone about changed list items.

My comeback

However, we now have #FRIRND on Google+ so we don't have to write full-length blog posts every time we need to update people interested of the lifts of what is going on for the trips. The new #FRIRND has saved hours, possibly days worth of blog writing during past trips to Fort Lauderdale & other Charlotte-like cities. On the plus, I could now update everyone at every time using a universal hashtag for both Google & YouTube.

The pictures below contain the only lift I was able to film when I went to Fort Lauderdale during the summer plane trip. These lifts alone satisfied me for the trip.

Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands. Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts. Their fast acceleration / leveling It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like...

Found the source of the problems with my PC

I am proud to finally tell y’all that I believe I have found a definite source of the problems I have been experiencing with my Windows PC over the past few days. It was because of a faulty Windows 10 preview update which was affecting the Windows 10 Recovery Environment. Luckily, I have found a trustworthy program (free of malware) which I could use to debug errors in my PC at any time, minor or major. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s happened when I tried to fix windows PC’s in the past. I am still taking  every precaution possible to further decrease the chance of my Windows PC breaking down or crashing. As a matter of fact, my PC almost crashed  this morning , but luckily, I was able to hard-restart the PC to get it working again by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s h...

THE OTIS IN ANAHEIM

Before writing this report, let me quickly give you some background on the lifts and escalators that I have seen during my time at DisneyLand in Anaheim, California with my family. Brief Overview While I was at DisneyLand in Anaheim, I have encountered four sets of very tall MontgomeryKONE escalators, a set of two very fast MontgomeryKONE traction units (partially outdoor as the first landing had a rear door that opened on the outside of the building), this OTIS hydro here that I managed to ride and film & another OTIS hydro that I didn’t get to ride nor film. These lifts, regardless, were still very awesome lifts, but for now, I will be going into a description of this amazing lift. What made this lift so amazing? This particular lift is so amazing because it’s a full-blown commercial hydraulic lift installed fully outdoors , which is rather unusual for an outdoor lift. This alone made it amazing. Upon first glance, it looks like a pretty standard lift that you would typical...
