List of personal terms used when filming lifts (ON ELEVATORPEDIA)

CRAPCOIZED

A term used by several lift enthusiasts to describe a horrible EPCO modernization, preferably on otherwise vintage lifts or when a modernization involves a very bland EPCO fixture, e.g. EPCO SSL

CRINGEOVATED

A term used by several lift enthusiasts in North America to describe a horrible modernization where Innovation was used to replace original lift buttons

TASTEFULLY MODERNISED

A term used by multiple lift enthusiasts, including DieselDucy to describe a lift which received a “nice” modernisation in where the original charm was not disturbed during the upgrade. Some examples of tasteful lift modernizations on vintage lift include CJ Anderson VR, GAL VR, Innovation Bruiser, or EPCO WGH halo buttons. The term has been popularized by many lift enthusiasts.

HORNRTDISC

A term used by a few lift enthusiasts, including tkefan29, Floridan Elevators & AP Lifts of Clinton Township by MagicalLift256, to describe a KONE EcoDisc lift that is either very fast, loud, or clunky. One example of a HORNRTDISC is the KONE MonoSpace lifts at the Embassy Suites Newark Airport hotel in Elizabeth.

MOVING HORNRT NEST

A term created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by MagicalLift256 to describe a Westinghouse lift. The term comes from the broken up version of “Wetinghouse”, known as We-Sting-House. Because hornrts sting, this term was created sarcastically.

MONITOR TRASHED

A term recently created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by Magicallift256 to describe a bland modernization of a vintage lift which involved the transition to Monitor TR fixtures without the halo, mostly in New York City. The last 3 letters in T.R.A.S.H are ash, which somewhat translates to death by bland modernization.

POGO STICK HYDRAULIC

A sarcastic term created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by MagicalLift256 to describe a hydraulic lift which bounces throughout the trip. One example is the National hydraulic lift at the Embassy Suites in Piscataway, NJ filmed by AP Lifts in Clinton Township by MagicalLift256 on December 31st 2017.

SPANISH STYLE LEVELING

A term to describe hard 2-speed leveling on a traction lift (mostly Otis), hard enough for even the camera to pick up the jolt. This term was created after multiple legacy Spanish Otis traction lift from the 1980s throughout Spain leveled very hard to the point where lift filmers’ cameras noticed it, e.g. Heritage Elevators. This term was created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by Magicallift256. A perfect example of Spanish style leveling is the Mexican 1980s Otis scenic lift which has been modernised with Series 3 fixtures in the 1990s, which is located at the Tesoro Ixtapa hotel in Ixtapa, Mexico.

TWO SPEEDER

A term created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by Magicallift256 to describe a traction lift with two-speed leveling.

ELEHORNRT

A term created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by Magicallift256 to describe a lift photographer in a high rise building who switches lift banks extremely quickly, without filming the transfer, much like how a hornet quickly flies from point A to point B. However, EleHornrt can be used to amp up the speed.

SENIOR/SEÑOR LIFT FILMER

Any lift enthusiast who has been active on YouTube for five years or longer. This term was created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by Magicallift256.

LUCKY GUY

The first person to film a lift that has never been filmed by any lift filmer before. The term Lucky Guy was created by AP Lifts of Clinton Township by Magicallift256

NEW JERSEY RITE OF PASSAGE

To describe an event where a lift filmer is brave enough to take on the challenge of an alone trip on New Jersey’s most fearsome lifts. These lifts are located at the West Tower of the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City, and were installed by MontgomeryKONE in 1996, later modernized slightly by Schindler in 2003, with original call buttons. These lifts have been known to cause slight anxiety to hotel guests, and visitors. A lift enthusiast steps into the lift by themselves, going to the 50th floor, or highest floor unlocked, pressing the “RECORD” button on their camera. While enroute, the lift filmer cannot make a stop at any other floor, and must complete one full round trip on any two of the four lifts in the set. Once the lift filmer has made it back to the concourse floor, without voluntarily stopping on any other floor besides the concourse floor and the highest floor unlocked, every other lift they encounter in the entire state of New Jersey will be a piece of cake for them. AP Lifts of Clinton Township by MagicalLift256 came up with this term after taking on the challenge during his third trip to Atlantic City. So far, the only four known lift enthusiasts to have ever taken upon this challenge are AP Lifts of Clinton Township by MagicalLift256, Maor Edry, American Elevators, and suejoshappy.

Found the source of the problems with my PC

I am proud to finally tell y’all that I believe I have found a definite source of the problems I have been experiencing with my Windows PC over the past few days. It was because of a faulty Windows 10 preview update which was affecting the Windows 10 Recovery Environment. Luckily, I have found a trustworthy program (free of malware) which I could use to debug errors in my PC at any time, minor or major. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s happened when I tried to fix windows PC’s in the past. I am still taking  every precaution possible to further decrease the chance of my Windows PC breaking down or crashing. As a matter of fact, my PC almost crashed  this morning , but luckily, I was able to hard-restart the PC to get it working again by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s h...

LIFT FILMING AGENDA UPDATE 1.25.2019 & WILL CHICAGO BE CROWNED THE NEW KING?

Chicago holds a high possibility of being crowned first place . What if I told you that Chicago has some rare and exotic lifts that you probably won’t find in many other places in the U.S.? That is an existence a lift filmer will be delighted with when they go to the city of Chicago. My four figures of reference were: WI Sirens and Elevators Elevators of Lake County CHI Elevators Windy City Elevators Because I have found so many outstanding Montgomery, Dover, SchindlerHaughton, Westinghouse and KONE lifts throughout the city of Chicago, it wouldn’t be sensible for me to write it all under one big blog post, because it would be a big waste of time for me to go into big, elaborate detail on what made each lift stand out. What I found on YouTube in terms of Chicago lifts Mitsubishi and Fujitec These lift filmers have walked around the city of Chicago filming some super nice lifts, and in the process of watching YouTube videos over the past few months, I have found that Ch...

QUICK RUNDOWN OF THE NORMAL BEHAVIOR OF A 700A

Tallest 700A’s I have been on Arguably, at 20 stories, these have been the tallest Schindler 700A’s I have EVER been on, and the first I’ve been on in a hotel. However, I have noticed some interesting characteristics of the Schindler 700A in mid to high rise applications. Epic lifts indeed To start off, these lifts had absolutely incredible acceleration, deceleration and leveling. They take off like rockets and travel at a mindblowing speed of 120 meters per minute, despite serving a travel distance of 55-60 meters. The deceleration is similar to the Schindler 700A’s at the Nordstrom store at the Mall at Short Hills, as it smoothly phases into its full deceleration mode. In terms of character, these lifts do tend to make a little bit of noise and shake on the way up and down the tower. Car 3 makes a very loud screeching noise as it accelerates towards level 17 going down, which I find to make the ride even more fun. These lifts were installed in 1993, which gives them even more 199...
