WE ARE GOING TO THE TROPICANA!!! :)

Words cannot describe how excited I was when I found out that we are going to be staying at the Tropicana hotel in Atlantic City via the email. The level of excitement I have experienced was similar to the level of excitement I had when I filmed my first destination dispatch lift in New York City back in 2016. The Tropicana Hotel has FIVE towers:

  • North tower
  • South tower
  • West tower, which has the best set of high rise lifts in the entire state of NJ
  • Chelsey tower (separate from the main hotel complex)
  • Havana tower, which has the least interesting high rise lifts

I am at a loss of words right now, because I am trying to contain the excitement & enthusiasm. Of course, I cannot be too excited because reservations could cancel or fall through at any time before August 5 through 8, meaning I will have no choice but to make visits to Secaucus TWICE OR GO TO ELIZABETH 3 TIMES to film lifts. Here is what I know:

  • Whenever I have time to film a lift, I will first film the lifts that I wasn’t able to film in February. I still remember every single set of lifts that I was able to film back in February, so, depending on lobby traffic & crowding, I may either take rides (NOT FILMS UNTIL AFTER I FILM A GOOD HANDFUL OF THE HYDRAULIC ONES) on the traction lifts first or film STRICTLY all the OTIS hydraulic lifts first! I have noticed something good about OTIS hydros: they all have a character in the way they run. They JOLT & BOUNCE like a pogo stick hydraulic lift would.
  • I will hopefully take the most amount of films of the BEST lifts in the hotel & save the Schindler HT for last since the HT is the LEAST INTERESTING lift in the Tropicana Hotel.
  • I will not film any service lifts unless I am being escorted by hotel staff or a security guard. And I will mute parts where I am talking & replace it with outro background music.
  • I will ask for permission to film lifts in the hotel upon arrival. If they say NO, then I will only get speed recordings of every lift, with background sound enabled. If they say YES (they probably will anyway since some of the hotels is public property), I will film the lifts. My only goal is to RIDE at least one Montgomery or KONE traction lift while in Atlantic City. Otherwise, I will make 1+ quick trip to Elizabeth BEFORE THE HARTFORD TRIP IN DECEMBER to film their hornrt disc lifts.
  • I will try filming lifts when there should be theoretically LESS TRAFFIC. This means early morning or late night.
  • I will try to go to Bally’s to film some of their lifts. If I am able to & I am even happier with Bally’s lifts than Tropicana’s lifts, I will finalize Atlantic City’s placement on CCRS so that it flows when I make changes to CCRS.

As of right now, CCRS (Charlotte-Carolina Ranking System) is as follows in this order:

  1. STATES:
    1. North Carolina
    2. New Jersey
    3. California
    4. Florida
    5. Texas
    6. Connecticut
  2. CITIES:
    1. Charlotte
    2. Asheville
    3. Indianapolis
    4. Saint Louis
    5. Kansas City
    6. San Diego
    7. San Francisco
    8. Sacramento
    9. Los Angeles
    10. Houston
    11. Dallas
    12. San Antonio
    13. Austin
    14. Plano
    15. Frisco
    16. Fort Lauderdale
    17. Miami
    18. Orlando
    19. Tampa
    20. Sarasota
    21. Atlanta
    22. Pittsburgh (This is a city we MIGHT go to this December)
    23. Milwaukee
    24. Chicago
    25. Hartford (This is a city we MIGHT go to this December)
    26. New Haven
    27. Stamford
    28. White Plains
    29. Rochester
    30. Buffalo
    31. Atlantic City (This is the city we are going to this August AND February 2019 for my 18th birthday)
    32. Secaucus (This is a city I wish to be going to in the fall)
    33. Elizabeth (This is a city I HOPE TO be going to in the fall)

I would have to visit Atlantic City 31 times this season in order to rightfully say that I have theoretically been to Charlotte ONCE. The Tropicana hotel is literally the city of Charlotte condensed into a 5-tower hospitality building.

More updates about other lifts I could possibly film in Atlantic City besides the Tropicana hotel are going up.

Found the source of the problems with my PC

I am proud to finally tell y’all that I believe I have found a definite source of the problems I have been experiencing with my Windows PC over the past few days. It was because of a faulty Windows 10 preview update which was affecting the Windows 10 Recovery Environment. Luckily, I have found a trustworthy program (free of malware) which I could use to debug errors in my PC at any time, minor or major. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s happened when I tried to fix windows PC’s in the past. I am still taking  every precaution possible to further decrease the chance of my Windows PC breaking down or crashing. As a matter of fact, my PC almost crashed  this morning , but luckily, I was able to hard-restart the PC to get it working again by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s h...

LIFT FILMING AGENDA UPDATE 1.25.2019 & WILL CHICAGO BE CROWNED THE NEW KING?

Chicago holds a high possibility of being crowned first place . What if I told you that Chicago has some rare and exotic lifts that you probably won’t find in many other places in the U.S.? That is an existence a lift filmer will be delighted with when they go to the city of Chicago. My four figures of reference were: WI Sirens and Elevators Elevators of Lake County CHI Elevators Windy City Elevators Because I have found so many outstanding Montgomery, Dover, SchindlerHaughton, Westinghouse and KONE lifts throughout the city of Chicago, it wouldn’t be sensible for me to write it all under one big blog post, because it would be a big waste of time for me to go into big, elaborate detail on what made each lift stand out. What I found on YouTube in terms of Chicago lifts Mitsubishi and Fujitec These lift filmers have walked around the city of Chicago filming some super nice lifts, and in the process of watching YouTube videos over the past few months, I have found that Ch...

QUICK RUNDOWN OF THE NORMAL BEHAVIOR OF A 700A

Tallest 700A’s I have been on Arguably, at 20 stories, these have been the tallest Schindler 700A’s I have EVER been on, and the first I’ve been on in a hotel. However, I have noticed some interesting characteristics of the Schindler 700A in mid to high rise applications. Epic lifts indeed To start off, these lifts had absolutely incredible acceleration, deceleration and leveling. They take off like rockets and travel at a mindblowing speed of 120 meters per minute, despite serving a travel distance of 55-60 meters. The deceleration is similar to the Schindler 700A’s at the Nordstrom store at the Mall at Short Hills, as it smoothly phases into its full deceleration mode. In terms of character, these lifts do tend to make a little bit of noise and shake on the way up and down the tower. Car 3 makes a very loud screeching noise as it accelerates towards level 17 going down, which I find to make the ride even more fun. These lifts were installed in 1993, which gives them even more 199...
