What to expect and hope for this summer

I have RE-JOINED YouTube as MagicalLift256 this morning or last night

  • Be sure you have checked YouTube to see my intro, outro, formal return announcement, and trailer videos, which I have worked tirelessly on every day this past week upon finding out that I passed every single one of my classes and am free of summer school.
  • Be sure to check out my new and intuitive single-page website. It has been designed with the help of Wix's AI design platform. I have changed the Technicalboy3000 website so it can provide information about what happened to it & at the bottom of the website features a bold button redirecting you to the new website. I will also be working on methods of automatic 301 redirects so that if you type in "www.technicalboy3000.weebly.com", you should be redirected to my MagicalLift256 website which is the right one.
  • Be sure to check the MagicalLift256 journal once a day this summer to see what I could be up to. Plans are never definite, but I will hope to film some lifts in New Jersey and possibly even Connecticut this summer if I can.
  • Be sure to check the MagicalLift256 WIKI page on ElevatorPedia. This is a good way to know more about my history as a lift filmer.
  • Be sure to check out my new community on Google+, which is the rising hornrts. Yes, I did spell hornrt like "H-O-R-N-R-T" because hornrts are more fun than hornets. It is my new alternative to writing extensive blog posts when I am out on the go. If you join the community, you can get chime-y notifications each time I post an update! You won't miss a single action.

Expectations are minimal

This summer, I do not have any specific expectations as to where I want to go, but, my expectations are that I will be able to film lifts in Elizabeth, Secaucus, Newark, Jersey City, or anywhere in the New Jersey Meadowlands area / Hudson County at least once or twice before my return date to school which is the second to last Thursday of August. Regarding the possibility of the proposed trip to Atlanta this summer that was idealized back in December, the chance of that happening is too far below the impact threshold to even be in the most moderate of a consideration anymore. I have no expectations for our trip to Atlantic City either, as the likelihood trend keeps going up and down like a roller-coaster. The egg points that you see is associated with the likelihood of us going to Atlantic City each Sunday after May 1st. The lower the egg is on the chart, the lower our likelihood is of going. The higher the egg is on the chart, the higher our likelihood is of going. Pay attention to the LAST egg shown on the chart! This is our likelihood of going to Atlantic City as of right now.

What are my plans for this summer?

While I want to save higher ranking Charlotte Kingdom-ranking cities for another time (cities ranking ABOVE Fort Lauderdale's placement, which is currently at the #16 spot), I would like to visit ranks 31 to 33 this summer (this means Atlantic City, Secaucus and/or Elizabeth). I have FILMED lifts in Elizabeth THREE TIMES since September 2016 and have RIDDEN lifts in Elizabeth MORE THAN SEVEN TIMES since 2015 & I was impressed, so I want to film even more lifts inside the CENTER of the town where Jersey Garden Mall is, so I could really see how comfortable I am with her placement on the Charlotte Kingdom. Below is a diagram of what the Charlotte Kingdom currently looks like. You may want to click on the infographic to enlarge it. Please do not download the chart, as information on it might change later.

Filming expectations

When filming lifts, expect me to film lifts using my Android device in hotels and buildings where I am NOT staying at, to drastically reduce my likelihood of getting busted and kicked out. Plans for the Tropicana hotel in Atlantic City are NOT DEFINITE & CAN CHANGE AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE, so expect a HALF-VERDICT (which will be the first of many) on July 1st. Additionally, ONLY IF I go to the Tropicana hotel in Atlantic City and happen to be sleeping there (the hotel I am staying at), will I film lifts with my Sony Handycam.

What can you expect if I DO end up going to Atlantic City?

If I DO END UP going to Atlantic City (and I possibly could), you can expect me to film at least SOME (not all) of the lifts in the Tropicana hotel or another hotel I could be staying at. If I stay in the Tropicana, while I will try to film all of the public lifts in the hotel that I can get to this summer, there is NO GUARANTEE that I can get to all of them. I am keeping my expectations at bay this summer, so the same thing that happened with Fort Lauderdale and LA doesn't end up happening for the 15 millionth time! I definitely would want to take at least 4 to 16 round trips in the West Tower's epic Montgomery lifts during the course of my PROPOSED stay in Atlantic City.

What can you expect if I DO end up filming lifts in Hunterdon County?

I am already impressed with how the lift in my SCHOOL runs (which is in Clinton Township), despite it being only from 2016, so it's putting Clinton Township in a reserved spot at the #34 placement in the Charlotte Kingdom. I am visiting a 3-story hospital building with a lift in Raritan/Flemington Township on July 12. If I get the opportunity to film or even just RIDE the lift & I end up having good feelings about it, I will add an empty #35 placement on the Charlotte Kingdom, so that as I film and ride more lifts in Flemington and Raritan Township, I will have a much clearer idea of how and where I want to place FRT on the Charlotte Kingdom. Any city ranking BELOW ATLANTIC CITY'S PLACEMENT on the Charlotte Kingdom, or is not big enough to be considered a typical city is automatically is considered a TOWN, even if the "town-like" city has a few high rise buildings.

Can you expect anything outside of New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut BESIDES Atlanta?

Our 4 possible options for filming lifts this summer that are OUTSIDE of the greater New England Area include:
  • Pittsburgh (22)
  • Fort Lauderdale (16)
  • Miami (17)
  • LA (9)
To keep future probability updates on the MagicalLift256 journal as basic as possible, I have introduced a new chart, meant to simplify writing. I have also saved a copy of this chart in my Google Drive so I can use it as a reference on the go when making updates in the Rising Hornrt community on Google+.

Likelihoods at a glance for this summer

  • Atlantic City: Somewhat likely
  • Atlanta: Incredibly unlikely/borderline impossible
  • Hartford: On the fence
  • Fort Lauderdale: Unlikely
  • LA: Extremely unlikely
  • Pittsburgh: Unlikely
  • Elizabeth: likely
  • Secaucus: likely
The rankings go in this order: C --> EL --> VL --> L --> SL --> OF --> UL --> VUL --> EUL --> IU. C is the highest likelihood while IU is the lowest likelihood. The chart will also be available on the Rising Hornrt community on Google+.

EXPECT EGG CHARTS!

This summer, I will start using egg charts as an easy alternative to likelihood charts. Egg charts can be easily and effortlessly created in Google Drawings and can be expanded to ANY length with just a little bit more effort. Egg charts give you a better idea as to how to mentally prepare for a verdict. It is easier to estimate what likelihood rating can be given by just looking at how high a specific egg is on the egg chart. I personally don't like eggs but don't ask me why I chose an egg chart LOL. Egg charts are used to easily convey statistical probability in a way that I will NOT spend a lot of time creating the charts & U will not have to stare at it with a blank face for 99 eons.

What can I do next summer?

Next summer, I hope to be visiting any city of choice in the Charlotte Kingdom that ranks higher than Fort Lauderdale. I want to visit one to four of these following cities to film lifts & possibly bring a frirnd of my choosing:
  1. Charlotte (Driving distance)
  2. Asheville (Driving distance)
  3. Indianapolis (Driving distance)
  4. Saint Louis (Driving distance)
  5. Kansas City (Driving distance)
  6. San Diego (Flying distance)
  7. San Francisco (Flying distance)
  8. Sacramento (Flying distance)
  9. Los Angeles (Flying distance)
  10. Houston (Flying distance)
  11. Dallas (Flying distance)
  12. San Antonio (Flying distance)
  13. Austin (except for UT Austin which uses mostly EPCO SSL [aka ssloppy] buttons), in this case, I'll be happy filming a lift even if it has Monitor TR WITHOUT THE HALO on it (Flying distance)
  14. Plano (Flying distance)
  15. Frisco (Flying distance)
Until then, pay attention to every single blog post that shows up on the MagicalLift256 journal this summer. From now on, I will tell you days or weeks in advance if I am going to be off of YouTube and 1 or more other services for an extensive period of time. By the way, I missed you guys a lot & couldn't wait to re-join!

Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands. Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts. Their fast acceleration / leveling It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like...

Found the source of the problems with my PC

I am proud to finally tell y’all that I believe I have found a definite source of the problems I have been experiencing with my Windows PC over the past few days. It was because of a faulty Windows 10 preview update which was affecting the Windows 10 Recovery Environment. Luckily, I have found a trustworthy program (free of malware) which I could use to debug errors in my PC at any time, minor or major. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s happened when I tried to fix windows PC’s in the past. I am still taking  every precaution possible to further decrease the chance of my Windows PC breaking down or crashing. As a matter of fact, my PC almost crashed  this morning , but luckily, I was able to hard-restart the PC to get it working again by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Luckily,  none of the problems I am experiencing with my PC right now are  anywhere close to what’s h...

THE OTIS IN ANAHEIM

Before writing this report, let me quickly give you some background on the lifts and escalators that I have seen during my time at DisneyLand in Anaheim, California with my family. Brief Overview While I was at DisneyLand in Anaheim, I have encountered four sets of very tall MontgomeryKONE escalators, a set of two very fast MontgomeryKONE traction units (partially outdoor as the first landing had a rear door that opened on the outside of the building), this OTIS hydro here that I managed to ride and film & another OTIS hydro that I didn’t get to ride nor film. These lifts, regardless, were still very awesome lifts, but for now, I will be going into a description of this amazing lift. What made this lift so amazing? This particular lift is so amazing because it’s a full-blown commercial hydraulic lift installed fully outdoors , which is rather unusual for an outdoor lift. This alone made it amazing. Upon first glance, it looks like a pretty standard lift that you would typical...
