ALARM!!! TRULY HORRIFIC FORECAST FOR PITTSBURGH

Could Pittsburgh end up being a failure like Los Angeles?

Due to rising suspicion of pretty dangerous weather patterns for much of western Pennsylvania, the likelihood of us going to Pittsburgh this upcoming Friday & Saturday has been swayed so low that if the trendline continues going down at the same rate as the trendline for Los Angeles did on the morning of December 7, we might not be going to Pittsburgh at all tomorrow! While that will suck, at least I was able to introduce new angelical cities in Connecticut to the Charlotte Kingdom, so this Christmas week wouldn't be meaningless after all.

Bottom line is, if a trip is brainstormed for any city of the Charlotte Kingdom, expect it to most likely NOT work out, unless it's Hartford or Secaucus.

What happens, if I still end up going to Pittsburgh?

If that is to happen (I still highly doubt it will though), I don't have specific plans for what hotel I am staying at or what lifts I would like to film, but I would at least like to film one Schindler PORT (Westin downtown probably) or one OTIS CompassPlus (Cathedral of Learning). While I CANNOT be certain about this, that's the minimum I am hoping to film if I am able to manage to go to Pittsburgh.

What happens if I am UNABLE to go to Pittsburgh?

If that happens (most likely it almost definitely WILL), then I could save Pittsburgh for the summer at the worst case scenario, if I also CAN'T GO DURING SPRING WEEK. However, I do have some backup plans which are slightly more likely of happening as of right now:

New York City (high rise buildings with better lifts ONLY):

  • Marriott Marquis
  • 1 WTC
  • Millennium by Hilton Hotel
  • W Times Square
  • Westin Times Square

Meadowlands area:

  • Courtyard by Marriott Secaucus Meadowlands
  • Courtyard by Marriott Lyndhurst Meadowlands
  • Residence Inn by Marriott Secaucus Meadowlands
  • La Quinta Inn Secaucus Meadowlands
  • Renaissance Newark Airport
  • Renaissance Lyndhurst Meadowlands
  • Meadowlands View Hotel

New Brunswick / Piscataway:

  • Embassy Suites Piscataway
Please note that I cannot promise anything; however, #FRIRND posts will be flying onto #FRIRND on Google+, so be sure to take a look at those when new updates are available.

As for Pittsburgh, I am grinding my teeth hoping it happens, if it doesn't, at least I made a big accomplishment this past weekend.

Why Schindler & KONE make the best traction lifts

Over the past 2 & a half years of filming lifts at different buildings all over the Eastern Seaboard, I have managed to film a handful of OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp & KONE traction lifts. Here is my assumption: Schindler & KONE make the best traction & MRL traction lifts of any of the 4 major lift brands. Of course, this could be based on personal bias, but it doesn’t go without knowledge that Schindler lifts, are in fact, more efficient time-based than let’s say, ThyssenKrupp lifts. Here are some things that I really love about Schindler & KONE traction lifts. Their fast acceleration / leveling It is no surprise that Schindler & KONE have some of the fastest average accelerating rates of any major lift brand. This is because Schindler & KONE have a perfect reference-tackle system, which is almost unbeatable by standards of other lift brands. One thing I have noticed when riding Schindler lifts is even at low speeds (200-400 FPM), you head feels like...

THE OTIS IN ANAHEIM

Before writing this report, let me quickly give you some background on the lifts and escalators that I have seen during my time at DisneyLand in Anaheim, California with my family. Brief Overview While I was at DisneyLand in Anaheim, I have encountered four sets of very tall MontgomeryKONE escalators, a set of two very fast MontgomeryKONE traction units (partially outdoor as the first landing had a rear door that opened on the outside of the building), this OTIS hydro here that I managed to ride and film & another OTIS hydro that I didn’t get to ride nor film. These lifts, regardless, were still very awesome lifts, but for now, I will be going into a description of this amazing lift. What made this lift so amazing? This particular lift is so amazing because it’s a full-blown commercial hydraulic lift installed fully outdoors , which is rather unusual for an outdoor lift. This alone made it amazing. Upon first glance, it looks like a pretty standard lift that you would typical...
